SGS has issued an EXCiPACT certificate to the Ashland Specialty Ingredients Hopewell, Virginia, site in the US.This achievement establishes Ashland's commitment to manufacturing high-quality pharmaceutical excipients according to the EXCiPACT GMP Certification Standard. Its scope covers manufacturing of carboxymethylcellulose sodium, ethylcellulose, and hydroxypropylcellulose for use as pharmaceutical excipients.
Jeff Dowson, Global Head of International Sales and Accounts at SGS, says: "This certification is an important one, especially in the realm of pharmaceuticals. Not only does it signify that Ashland complies with appropriate regulations, but it demonstrates that all materials at these sites are being produced in accordance with planned arrangements, as shown by SGS."
EU and US pharmaceutical regulations require drug manufacturers to either conduct their own audits or commission third-party physical audits of all their starting material suppliers to demonstrate GMP and/or Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliance. The independent, high-quality, third-party EXCiPACT certification scheme is already helping users and suppliers to reduce their audit burden, save costs and assure quality.
Full details of all sites that have been EXCiPACT certified to date in 16 countries (including Canada, China, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UK and USA) can be found on the EXCiPACT website.
As a world-leading provider of certification, inspection, testing and verification, SGS is an internationally-recognized EXCiPACT Certification Body.
