SGS has expanded its testing facilities in Naucalpan, Mexico State, Mexico, creating a major testing hub for textiles and apparel in Central and South America.

Formally opened in August 2017 by SGS EVP, Richard Shentu, SGS Mexico Managing Director, Hermann Saenger, and SGS Mexico Laboratory Manager, Lillian Peregrina, the specially invited audience of customers and local business leaders were given a guided tour of the new facilities, with explanations of the new capabilities.

 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Officially open - Richard Shentu, Executive Vice President, Hermann Saenger, Managing Director, SGS Mexico, and Lillian Peregrina, CRS Business Manager, SGS Mexico complete the official ribbon cutting ceremony to open SGS’s expanded Naucalpan laboratory.

During the ceremony, Mr. Shentu noted, “SGS is committed to investing in world-class testing facilities and Mexico is an important center for SGS. With its access to North, Central and South American markets, manufacturers must be sure their testing laboratory is capable of performing the right physical and chemical tests for international and national standards.”

Naucalpan is ideally suited to help textile manufacturers take advantage of these markets. Already approved by the US CPSC to perform ‘use and abuse’ and flammability tests, the site has developed its range of physical tests to include Martindale Pilling, colorfastness to burnt gas, ICI Pilling and the rain test. In addition, it can now perform the full-range of chemical tests on fabrics and apparel, against both US and Mexican standards.

This expansion allows SGS to assist its textile customers with all their testing requirements, making it a major hub for consumer textile testing in South and Central America. The site offers efficient and accurate testing, competitive turnaround times, and service which exceeds the expectations of the customer.
