Flammability of children’s clothing was the main risk in the USA in Q2 2017. Six of the nine products recalled in the clothing, textile and fashion category were items of children’s clothing. Overall in Q2 product recalls in clothing, textile and fashion increased by 125%, when compared to Q1 2017.
Issues surrounding chemicals and choking in clothing, textile and fashion items were the two biggest risk categories resulting in recalls in the EU in Q2 2017. Of 51 recalls in this category, 20 were a result of chemical risk in leather accessories. Over the same period, recalls of jewelry products dropped 58% and there were no PPE recalls.
