SGS is proud to announce that it has been awarded a contract to provide offshore cargo inspectors and third party laboratory services for Shell’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project.
The world’s largest floating offshore facility, Prelude will be located northeast of Broome, Western Australia. Using revolutionary technology, it will chill natural gas, liquefying it so that its volume is reduced and it can be shipped around the world. This will allow vital offshore energy resources to be unlocked, without the need to lay pipelines or build processing plants on land.
The contract will require extensive collaboration across the SGS network. SGS will be responsible for ensuring expert support in independent quantity and quality measurements for one of the most significant and prestigious LNG projects ever undertaken.
Sven Lataire, Global LNG Manager for SGS , says, “Being part of one of the most significant LNG projects ever undertaken is a unique opportunity for us. We are very excited to assist in transitioning the initial success of this prestigious project into an operational success.”
