With the intention of promoting Food Safety standards in India, SGS along with Mettler Toledo, a leading global manufacturer of precision instruments and services for use in laboratories and manufacturing, partnered with BRC Global Standards, to promote their new Food Safety Standards.

Roadshows were held in Delhi & Mumbai on September 7 and 9, 2016 respectively. The event saw a good turnout of 40 - 50 prospective clients at each location, representing food processing, food packaging and food logistics companies in India.

The event saw presentations made by experts from all three companies providing valuable insights on the industry and emphasising the importance of food safety standards in India, Presenters Mr. Anil Jauhari, CEO and Ms. Shashi Rekha, Director, from NABCB – QCI highlighted the importance of regulatory bodies and their role in managing food safety standards. Ms. Tessa Kelly, Operations Director, BRC, spoke about the benefits of BRC Global Standards Certification. Mr. Subrata Saha, Head – Food Certification Services, and Mr. Soumik Mondal, National Certification Manager, Food, from SGS elaborated on the process to obtain BRC Certification and training services. Lastly Mr. Peter Morf & Mr. Kevin Stephens from Mettler Toledo provided information on the solutions and services that would help produce safe quality food.

After the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, the welcome address was delivered by Mr. Cresenciano Maramot, Managing Director, SGS India and Sri Lanka and Mr. Sanjeev Dhar, Managing Director, Mettler Toledo India. Also present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Nilesh Jadhav, Business Director, Certification and Business Enhancement, and Mr. Dipjyoti Banerjee, Business Director, Transportation from SGS India in the events conducted in Mumbai & Delhi respectively.

The events provided an excellent platform for networking and sharing of ideas and challenges faced by the food industry. We received excellent feedback from clients who were looking forward to similar sessions in future and want to explore the benefits of BRC standards and certification.
