SGS at WCNDT, Taking Place Mid-June in Munich
SGS will be presenting its extensive portfolio of services for non-destructive testing (NDT) from June 13 to 16, 2016, at the 19th World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (WCNDT) to be held at the International Congress Center ICM, Munich. At this leading trade show, SGS specialists from all around the world will be presenting under the theme "Local knowledge. A world of expertise." – introducing NDT experts to the benefit of SGS’s wide range of services.
The presentations reflect the international nature of SGS projects. These include in-service inspections for floating production storage and offloading units in Angola, a refinery expansion project in Colombia and pipeline integrity support services in the USA and Canada.
Simple, Challenging or Specific Tasks
SGS will be at exhibition stand FE 76 on the ground floor of the foyer. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a demonstration of a pipe support scanner, designed to monitor the corrosion build-up on pipelines and a Cobra scanner for the semi-automated testing of boiler tubes using phased array. These are testing devices and methods that can provide reliable information on the condition of workpieces or installations without having to dismantle them.
New Technologies for New Challenges
Another highlight of the trade show program will be the presentation by Tyler Hartmann, head of process development at SGS Germany, taking place on June 17 at 11.20 am. Mr. Hartmann will be talking about new testing equipment that combines phased array technology with eddy current testing to investigate defects at connecting weld seams of heating surface tubes in power plants that cannot be reached by hand. The technology can identify potential damage at the weld seams, which is almost inevitable in the long-term due to high temperatures and extreme pressure, and warn the operator in good time. This technology will enable you to avoid the costs associated with plant downtime and unforeseen repairs. We look forward to welcoming you at our stand.
