SGS has been awarded the on-site laboratory contract at Roxgold Inc.’s Yaramoko gold mine in Burkina Faso. The contract includes the design, manufacture and site installation of a modular laboratory facility. SGS’s innovative plug and play modular laboratory design has allowed the laboratory to be designed, manufactured and commissioned in less than six months, from start to finish, with a minimum number of skilled trades people involved. The contract stipulates that SGS will perform all of the required analytical services for the mine over the next seven years.
The new on-site laboratory has been designed to service the Yaramoko mine by providing critical data to guide site activities. It is scheduled to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and its scope of operations will include sample preparation, fire assay, gold by flame AAS and site environmental monitoring analyses.
In West Africa, SGS also currently runs on-site laboratories in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
SGS is well recognized in the laboratory analytical and testing sector and this new laboratory reflects a commitment to ensuring that all services are accessible to all of its clients.
