SafeGuardS child holding bear in bed

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is seeking comments on a proposed extension of approval of a collection of information associated with the Standard for Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear: Sizes 0-6X (16 CFR 1615) and the Standard for the Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear: Sizes 7-14 (16 CFR 1616). Written comments regarding the collection of information must be submitted by 25th January 2016.

The Standards for the Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear (16 CFR 1615 and 1616) address the fire hazard associated with small-flame ignition sources for children’s sleepwear manufactured for sale in or imported into the United States.

The standards also require manufacturers and importers of children’s sleepwear to collect and maintain information resulting from product testing.

The Commission solicits written comments about the proposed collection of information from all interested parties with respect to the following questions:

  • Whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the Commission’s functions
  • Whether the estimated burden of the proposed collection of information is accurate
  • Whether the quality, utility and clarity of the information collected could be enhanced
  • Whether the burden imposed by the collection of information could be minimized by use of automated, electronic or other technological collection techniques

For more information, please read the Federal Register [1] for the proposed extension of information collection on flammability standards for children’s sleepwear.
