Quality & Standards Conference 2015 – Towards a Smart Nation
The conference was officially opened by Guest-of-Honour, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan - Minister for the Environment & Water Resources and Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation Initiative. Following a keynote address on the role of international standards in supporting the development of Smart Cities around the world, by Dr Zhang Xiaogang, President of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), other speakers shared their perspectives on how standards and conformance support the Smart Cities Initiative, in the United Kingdom and China.
During the morning, panel discussions were held on the role of standards and conformance in supporting Singapore’s journey towards becoming a Smart Nation. In the afternoon, speakers from various government agencies and leading technology companies, outlined specific smart initiatives for homes, transportation, campus and healthcare. They also outlined the ways in which standards and conformance schemes support the implementation of these initiatives.
SAC Customer Day 2015
The Singapore Accreditation Council used SAC Customer Day as an opportunity to recognise newly accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) and offered discourse on the subjects of business opportunities in Asia Pacific, and changes in the Testing & Certification (T&C) and regulatory landscape of Singapore.
SGS Singapore works closely with SAC and provides accredited certification services to local businesses. This means local businesses, which receive accreditation by SGS, can deliver trusted goods and services, and ensure marketability to both local and overseas markets.
