Plant integrity, safety and reliability are major concerns to all plant operators and managers. The primary objective of integrity management is to maintain assets in a fit-for-service condition while extending equipment lifespan in a reliable, safe, and cost-effective manner.

As a result, SGS designed a complimentary three-hour technical awareness session entitled ‘An Awareness on Integrity Assessment of Plant Piping, Storage Tank and Pressure Vessels’. Held on August 11, 2015 at the SGS Pakistan Head Office on the Korangi Industrial Area in Karachi, the scheduled session was also repeated on the following day to accommodate the overwhelming response, with over 100 people in attendance.

The aim of the awareness sessions was to help plant owners understand their tank, pressure vessel and plant piping equipment. The sessions focused on the detailed steps and techniques that should be taken to ensure plant integrity, which increases operational efficiency, reduces downtime, and improves revenues and production.

The sessions offered an overview of the requirements, standards and the certified experts that apply for it, as well as case study videos and live demonstrations of testing and assessment equipment.

The events were attended by industry personnel, including senior technical engineers, senior maintenance personnels and senior managers, from the oil refineries, chemical manufacturing companies, power generation companies, textile industry and others.

Topics covered included:

  • Preserving assets and improving reliability
  • Reducing maintenance costs
  • Reducing inspection costs
  • Environment preservation
  • Regulatory compliance
