Renan Gravena appointed to spearhead development of SGS Seed & Crop services in South America.
Industry expert, Renan Gravena, has been appointed as SGS’s new Regional Business Development Head – Contract Research. Focusing on South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru), this new role will help to grow and develop the company’s field trial and research services in the region.
In addition to growing the business, he will also drive the standardisation and harmonisation of our business practices across the region, to ensure a common level of execution and that OECD GLP and SGS high standards are met and maintained.
Renan, who is well known within the industry for his involvement and support for in-field and laboratory services, brings wealth of experience and expertise to the role. He has led SGS Gravena and its predecessor (Gravena) for more than a decade. Before joining Gravena, he graduated with a Degree in Agronomy (1997), followed by Masters Degrees in Citrus (1999) and Plant Science (2002), and a PhD in Plant Science in 2006.
Building on his experience in contract research, as well as the implementation of quality management processes and systems at SGS Gravena, Renan will drive the continued diversification of the business to ensure that we develop our offering to meet customer needs, both now and in the future.
Leading a team of more than 130 staff and operating a network of seven contract research field stations in Brazil, Renan has extensive experience in efficacy, residue and biotech field trials and related laboratory services for all of Brazil’s principal crops.
