SGS representatives from around the globe were on hand at stand B-12 Hall 1 at the launch of the Building Test Expo held in Cologne. Building Test Expo is a new international exhibition and technical forum dedicated to effective testing and certification throughout the building supply chain. The three-day event promoted increased innovation, quality, safety and sustainability in buildings and building materials by introducing advanced testing technologies and processes.

Building Text Expo offered a comprehensive showcase of products and expertise relevant to the diagnosis, development, research, testing, verification and certification of buildings, building materials and construction products.

Due to the July 1, 2013 effective date of the Constructions Products Regulation requiring CE marking for all construction products sold within the European Union, SGS recognized the opportunity to present its global product testing and system certification, auditing and consultancy services to a broad audience.

At the event, held at the Congress-Centrum Ost Koelnmesse in Cologne from June 11-13, SGS representatives presented comprehensive material testing and technical consultancy services.

SGS technical consultants informed expo visitors about the unrivaled SGS experience and up-to-the-minute SGS knowledge in the areas of CE marking of building materials and components and engineering structures enabling clients around the world to select only materials of the highest distinction for implementation in reliable, safe and sustainable construction projects.

A world leader among providers of technical consultancy services for the construction industry, highly-skilled company professionals illustrated the deep SGS understanding of building materials. International SGS representatives highlighted over 40 years of experience in the industry, unrivaled technical and regulatory expertise and the unique SGS global network which make SGS the first choice for construction clients the world over.

SGS delegates from the Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan and South Africa, highly trained in testing and certification, were onboard to present the long list of SGS building materials testing and consulting services. Mario Delamboy, Ramon Vincente, Juli Gahi, Jack Kuo and Andreas Baptist provided information on the broad range of SGS mechanical, physical, chemical and non-destructive testing methods.

The world's foremost testing company, SGS provides the latest material testing methods, highly-experienced specialists, state-of-the-art laboratories and a global reach.

Building Text Expo offered SGS a platform to present a new market approach, meet new customers, welcome existing clients, further establish brand awareness and network within the market.

Andreas Baptist outlined the benefits of CE marking for manufacturers, importers, distributors, specifiers and purchasers in an extremely informative presentation entitled, “CE Marking - What's in it for me?”. Mr. Baptist tackled the important questions of whether CE marking would increase sales and improve upon product quality, answered the ultimate question of whether voluntary CE marking makes sense and explained the advantages of comparing similar products according to manufacturer Declaration of Performance. Technical sessions with short presentations on CE marking under the Construction Products Regulation were also held.

SGS was pleased to debut at the first Building Test Expo and looks forward to a repeat appearance.
