In September 2012, Millenium Challenge Account Senegal, awarded SGS a comprehensive supervision services contract for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of road works to improve the Route Nationale 2 (RN2) in Senegal.

The twenty-six month project is funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Millennium Challenge Corporation

Established by the United States Congress in 2004, the Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. foreign aid agency leading the fight against global poverty. MCC and the government of Senegal have formed an alliance to financially support the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Senegal in its efforts to reduce poverty in the Republic of Senegal through infrastructure investment and economic growth.

In Senegal, the MCC strategy is structured around the integrated developmental programs of regional centers in both the country's northern and southern zones emphasizing integration of the northern trade route and the West African Ring Road.

For this particular project, MCC funding was appropriated for the renovation of 120 kilometers of 8 to 11 meter wide RN2 road between Richard Toll and Ndioum as well as the construction of a 160 meters long bridge and two slip roads of 750 and 550 meters in Ndioum.
