Airey Designated Senior Member
SGS has further strengthened its already impressive rail team by naming James Airey as a senior member of the strategic consulting team. Mr. Airey joins SGS from Siemens Rail Systems and brings with him over 16 years of rail industry experience specializing in the procurement, design, manufacture and maintenance of rolling stock.
During his tenure at Siemens, Mr. Airey was responsible for the development of business relating to rolling stock maintenance and depot infrastructure. He managed successful bids for the Thamslink Rolling Stock Project (TRSP), Eurostar's Velaro e320 and Class 350 EMUs for London Midland and TransPennine Express.
Prior to his achievements at Siemens, Mr. Airey was employed by the global management and consulting firm of Booz & Company and is rejoining his colleagues Phil Taylor, Richard Bexon, Simon Lawson and Wendy Morgan, the experienced Strategic Rail Consultants appointed by SGS at the beginning of this year.
SGS Celebrates Airey Appointment
Mark Dowell, SGS Head of UK Industrial Division, states, “The appointment of James will enable us to further expand our railway services portfolio, demonstrating our firm commitment to growing our UK and global rail business. Working in unison with the existing SGS team, his knowledge and experience will allow us to offer both current and future customers additional services that complement the independent verification and validation services for which SGS is renowned. We're extremely pleased to welcome James to our team.”
James commented, “I am delighted to move to SGS and cannot wait to work amongst the team to assist in further developing our already impressive capabilities within existing markets and help guide our entry into new services and geographical markets on a global scale.”
In his new position, James Airey is responsible for developing rail service offerings, expanding the client base, leading the delivery of high-value rail services to customers and ensuring that SGS continues to deliver unique solutions to the global rolling stock and rail infrastructure markets.
