SGS Minerals Services Geochemical Laboratory in Vancouver, Canada Conforms to the Requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005

SGS is pleased to announce that our geochemical laboratory in Vancouver, Canada has received official recognition from the Standards Council of Canada that this facility successfully conforms to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard for specific registered tests. This process measured conformance of the quality management system to the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The facility houses SGS’ Minerals Services business line and forms a key part of our unmatched global network of laboratories.

A total of nine test methods were audited covering 57 elements. These cover precious metal, base metal, carbon and sulphur, and trace element analysis. Please refer to this PDF file.

The audit was an overview of the quality system including the management and technical specifications covering documentation control, non-conformance requirements, proficiency testing, training competency, equipment monitoring, test method validation, traceability of measurements, quality of data and sample management. This scope of accreditation also includes SGS’ sample reduction facilities in Elko, Nevada and Telkwa, British Columbia.

This achievement demonstrates SGS’ commitment to geochemical expertise and adds to the existing full scope of exploration, metallurgy, mineralogy and water treatment services that SGS offers to its clients on the west coast of North America. SGS also provides comprehensive trade services in Vancouver for hard rock minerals, potash, sulphur and coal. The Vancouver facility also functions as a gateway to other SGS services.
