Under the PVoC programme, which will start the 1st January 2012, all regulated products to be imported in Tanzania will undergo verification and testing at country of supply (export) and a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) will be issued to demonstrate that the products meet the requirements of the applicable National or International standards

The objective of the program is: to protect the country and the Tanzanian consumers against the importation of substandard products that can endanger public health, safety and environment; to prohibit the entry of unsafe and / or counterfeit products as well as to protect local manufacturers against unfair competition from imported products which do not comply to National Standards.
The category of products that are subject to the PVoC programme include:

  • Toys and childcare products
  • Electrical and electronic products
  • Automotive products
  • Chemical and household products (furniture, paper products Selected safety equipments
  • Mechanical materials and gas appliances
  • Food and agricultural products
  • Selected safety equipments
  • Used products

The service 

SGS offers services to help the exporters comply with the TBS PVoC requirements and obtaining the Certificate of conformity (CoC) after completion of the required actions under the preferred route of the exporter, as follows: 

  • Route A: for Unregistered products (unregistered suppliers or Manufacturers of sensitive goods);
  • Route B: Registered suppliers or Manufacturers of Goods; and
  • Route C: Licensed Products
