CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum Visits Fairfield Lab to Review New Juvenile Products Capabilities
CPSC Chairman, Inez Tenenbaum, visited SGS Fairfield on November 11, 2011 to review the new juvenile products laboratory. The Chairman was accompanied by 2 staff members and a reporter from the Washington Post.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is an independent federal regulatory agency which has oversight of safety for more than 15,000 types of consumer products. The commission is charged with rule-making and enforcement of consumer product requirements in the US. The Chairman visited the Consumer Testing Services laboratory in Fairfield, New Jersey, USA to see toys and juvenile products testing. The Chairman was particularly interested in witnessing the lab’s capability for crib testing per new US regulatory requirements. The CTS lab in Fairfield is equipped to test to all 22 ASTM standards and 5 Federal standards for juvenile products, including the new crib standards.
After the meeting Mr. Scott Wolfson, a CPSC representative who accompanied Chairman Tenenbaum during the visit, provided this compliment to Fairfield laboratory Operations:
“I've travelled all around the country with the Chairman and I must say that the presentation made by your team on Friday was among the most professional and most impressive that we have seen in the past 2 1/2 years. You have a top notch operation in Fairfield and we truly appreciate the effort that was expended to carry out all of the demonstrations for the Chairman.”
