On September 25, 2010 the Technical Regulation on Machinery Safety, which had been approved by the Russian Government Decree No. 753 dated on September 15, 2009, came into force. This document determines the minimum requirements towards machinery safety at design, production, installation, maintenance, operation, storage, transportation, sales and utilization stages.
As an accredited certification body for conformity verification under this Technical Regulation SGS Vostok Limited, the Russian subsidiary of SGS, started to issue certificates of conformity for import equipment entering the Russian market. The certificate of conformity is the document testifying machinery’s conformity to the requirements of the Technical Regulation and allows the manufacturer to mark its products with the registered mark of conformity.
According to the procedure prescribed by the Technical Regulation on Machinery Safety the certificates of conformity may be issued on the basis of sample tests, quality system verification or production site audit, depending on the chosen conformity verification scheme.
Vladimir Ovcharov, Head of Product Certification and Industrial Safety at SGS Vostok Limited (SGS Group) commented: “We draw the attention of all organizations that went through conformity verification procedure before September 25 to the fact that the declarations or certificates of conformity are valid till the end of their validity period only for the machinery manufactured and commissioned before the Technical Regulation on Machinery Safety has come into force”.
