The Use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) in Baby Food will be Banned
On April 7, 2010 members of the Moscow City Duma adopted the resolution "Comment to the draft Federal Law No. 322318-5 On Amending Article 15 of the Federal Law On Quality and Safety of Food Products concerning the ban to use GMO in baby products”.
Since 2006 in Moscow there have been restrictions on the use of GMO in food products. Now it is proposed that a prohibition is imposed on the use of GMO in all baby products. Products containing soya are a particular focus.
Baby food in Russia is liable to mandatory certification that allows authorities to verify its safety. Certification is carried out for both domestic and imported products.
