We are pleased to confirm that the recent CDM EB meeting reinstated the accreditation of SGS as a Designated Operational Entity.

This means that SGS can continue to participate fully in the activities of validation and verification of CDM projects and pass on to the UN those projects that have been held back waiting the lifting of the suspension.

“We have worked hard to ensure that our systems are robust and meet the expectations of the CDM board in terms of documentation of the activities,” said Michael Fahy, SVP Environmental Services. “We are pleased that these efforts have been recognized by the CDM EB in their recent meeting and would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience and support over the last weeks.”

The current market conditions in the USA make it very difficult to serve our customers with the same service levels that we deliver in other parts of the globe. Consequently SGS has decided to significantly reduce its activities in the US climate change market for the time being.  We will take on no further contracts in the regulatory markets related to The Climate Registry, (TCR), California Climate Action Registry (CCAR) and Climate Action Reserve (CAR) and will wind down our existing activities in these fields.  We have directly notified all of our customers impacted by this decision.
