China represents an important and growing market for qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experts. This is why SGS established a Training and Examination Center in Shanghai preparing NDT personnel to perform at the same level of competence as in Europe, the US and other parts of the world.
After gaining the approval from the Chinese government SGS China designed and built its own hi tech exposure bays for X-ray and Gamma-ray Radiography. The construction of these exposure bays is now complete and meets high standards for design, safety and security. With the completion of these exposure bays the SGS NDT Training and Examination Center applied to BINDT for an increase to scope for its services. BINDT audited the facility and systems and after another Zero Non Compliance audit report, granted the approval immediately. Therefore, with immediate effect, SGS has increased its training services to include Radiographic Testing (RT) and will therefore meet the increasing demand of the market.
Radiography is a Non-Destructive Examination method that uses X-ray and Gamma-ray for detecting internal imperfections, for measuring wall-thickness and for detection of corrosion.
SGS is very proud of this achievement and aims to upgrade the quality of Radiographic Testing personnel around China.
Offering Training Services is a key part of SGS’ strategy to improve quality and safety around the world. SGS trains and examines personnel to the highest inspection standards worldwide as there is an increasing demand for adequately trained & qualified NDT inspectors.
SGS also offers Non-Destructive Testing Services providing quality assurance and process safety. The services cover both conventional and advanced NDT systems.
