To ensure quality, regular testing and inspection are required both during and after the manufacturing process in China. Both in China as in Western countries, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is applied to verify the material, the welds and the construction. These technologies are used by experienced and well trained NDT operators, but just how experienced and well trained are they? Since their interpretation is crucial in the inspection process, you should always ask yourself this question when ordering these services abroad.

China represents an important and growing market for NDT Services and for qualified NDT experts and inspectors. This is why the International Committee of Non-Destructive Testing has chosen China to host the 17th World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (WCNDT).

SGS has chosen China to start up training and examination of NDT operators according to recognized worldwide standards. Since the schemes SGS is using are independently audited, they belong to the most respected schemes in the world. SGS training prepares NDT personnel to sit the EN473 exam which means that after passing, the operators can then perform at the same level of competence as in Europe, the US and other places in the world. It is the only way to ensure you receive the same level of inspection that you would expect in your home country.

This is SGS’s answer to improve your supply chain, improve your focus and to make sure your products meet the required specification.

The 17th WCNDT, one of the most important conferences and exhibitions in the NDT world, was held in Shanghai, China from 26-28 October 2008.
SGS attended this event and, responding to increasing demand in this area, demonstrated its international Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Training Services.
SGS has worked hard in recent years to set up its NDT inspection business. Again, to support their customers in the field from both East and West to improve their quality and to make sure deadlines and quality expectations are met. SGS provides all standard NDT services such as Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic and Penetrant Testing and is also able to apply advanced technologies such as Eddy Current, TOFD and Phased Array to selected applications.

Non-Destructive Testing Services

At the SGS Stand, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experts gave a live demonstration on how advanced NDT technologies like Guided Wave Inspection or Long Range UT inspection are carried out. A 9m long test pipe was placed at the SGS Stand to give visitors a first-hand experience of advanced NDT technologies. These SGS services are available not only in China but in more than 30 countries around the world.

SGS NDT Training and Examination Center

At the newly-established SGS NDT Training and Examination Center in Shanghai, NDT Training Courses and Examinations are available to European (EN473) and American (ANST) standards.

These courses are available at the SGS Center itself or can be held on site at your company’s own premises if required.
