SGS acquires new Electrical and Electronic Lab in Munich!
On 1 June, 2008 Nokia Siemens Networks concluded a business and asset transaction with SGS - the leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
Nokia Siemens Networks transfers assets and personnel previously working on testing activities of the Research and Technology Platform business in the locations of Munich Center of Quality Engineering (CQE), Germany with around 60 employees and Espoo (Finland) with around 10 employees.
The transaction with SGS also includes assets related to the testing activities.
SGS CQE was founded in 1921 as the Institute for Quality and in 1968 became an EMC Test-centre. Test and simulation facilities cover over 5,000 m² with approx. 70 highly skilled and motivated employees.
Accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 SGS CQE offers the following services:
- EMC - Electromagnetic Compatibility
- Product Safety/Safety of Machinery
- Over voltage
- Telecom Conformance Communication Interfaces Radio Access
- Network Simulation
- Performance and System Reliability Functional Safety of Software
- Environmental Engineering/Simulation Climatic Tests Mechanical Stress Tests
- Component Qualification (Electromechanical etc.)
SGS CQE offers one-stop testing and consulting services to a broad range of industries:

The new lab will support SGS in creating a strong technical centre of excellence in Germany and significantly strengthen SGS in Finland. “With this transaction SGS intends to reinforce its testing network in Europe,” says Chris Kirk, CEO of SGS, “and allows us to position ourselves in the field of testing for telecommunication devices.”
