SGS Industrial Services (SGS UK) won the contract for coating inspections of 25 steel mono-pile foundations off the coast of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

The Danish utility company and owner of the wind farm, Elsam and the sub-contractors MT Höjgaard and Rheden Steel awarded SGS the contract for corrosion and coating inspection of the 25 offshore steel mono-piles foundations off the coast of Liverpool.

The inspections will be performed using qualified personnel from the SGS’ coating department in Belgium. The construction work and the inspections will be performed beginning from summer 2006. Siemens Wind Power will deliver the 25 - 3.6 MW Offshore Wind Turbines selected for this project.

SGS is currently also involved in third party independent certification for other offshore and onshore wind farm projects, e.g. Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm in Baltic Sea (Vattenfall), Q7 Offshore Wind Farm in Holland (Van Oord), Changkong Onshore Wind Farm in Taiwan (Tai-Power/Vestas) and Puck Onshore Wind Farm in Poland (Polish Energy Partners).
