SGS Vietnam held a Conference on Russian certification in Hanoi targeting exporters of consumer goods. The Conference was hosted by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, co-organizer of the event.

Officials from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam and Trade Representation of Russia in Vietnam opened the event. “Vietnamese goods are well known in Russia since Soviet times. However, requirements and consumer preferences have been changing,” Alexander Sitnikov, Trade Representative of Russia in Vietnam, said. He expressed confidence that knowledge of certification requirements in the Russian market would boost exports from Vietnam to Russia.

Andrew Keenan, SGS Vietnam Managing Director, and Tatiana Apatovskaya, SGS GOST Marketing Manager, delivered presentations. Certification requirements for consumer products in Russia were explained. Special attention was paid to practical issues and specific problems faced by exporters while exporting to Russia. Ways to avoid such problems were suggested.

Around 80 participants from Northern Vietnam attended the conference, mostly producers and traders of food products (e.g. canned vegetables & fruits, coffee, seafood, meat), but also suppliers of clothes, footwear and handicraft.
