Placing Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) on the EU single market is steadily becoming a complex challenge for manufacturers around the world. This is the result of the more stringent regulations that now govern the EU market, the intensified EU market surveillance and the increasing competition between manufacturers to provide high quality equipment to this highly demand market. With the EU RoHS directive recast (also known as RoHS 2) now in force and first sunset date 2 January 2013 for Member States’ national law implementation approaching, market access requirements for EEE manufacturers and importers have now reached a new level of complexity, due to cross links with other EU regulations and CE marking. Besides classical EEE products also manufacturers of toys with minor/secondary functions needing electricity for an intended function will have to be RoHS compliant in the future.
To support manufacturers and importers with this entire process, SGS has developed the new CE RoHS Service that provides tailor made solutions to simplify regulatory compliance and improve the rate at which your EEE is granted EU market access.
Key details covered during the seminar:
- RoHS 2 implementation schedule, scope, product categories, exemption policies
- Manufacturer, importer and distributor obligations under RoHS 2
- CE Marking requirements under RoHS 2
