Environment EWS Standard Certification
European Water Stewardship (EWS) Standard services from SGS assess an organization’s approach to sustainable water management.
Less water consumption and fewer pollutants are the principal objectives of EWS: a standard aimed particularly at addressing water-sensitive sectors, such as beverage manufacturers and the paper industry. Companies in other sectors, however, can also benefit because conserving resources is a generational issue, and compliance and implementation are becoming increasingly important.
Based on the EU Water Framework Directive and owned by the independent European Water Partnership (EWP), the EWS standard focuses on four basic principles:
- Sustainable water abstraction
- Ensuring a good water status
- Preserving high conservation value areas
- Equitable and transparent water governance
We provide assessment services and certification based on the EWS. Water analyses can be conducted in our global network of ISO 17025 accredited laboratories. In addition, to enable businesses and organizations to better manage water usage, we help you to measure and monitor consumption through hydrogeology, consulting and related studies.
Delivering an integrated approach to water management needs, we provide you with the tools to manage information on water through SGS E-Data and ensure that you disclose water data with confidence, and receive the maximum reward for your sustainability efforts, in the context of Water Stewardship initiatives. We support you with water footprint calculations also in connection with the CDP water disclosure program and sediment runoff prevention studies.
