In 2019 we expanded the rollout of our eLearning course on human rights to cover all of our employees.

On December 10, 2019, Human Right’s Day, our CEO sent a Group-wide message announcing the availability of this eLearning course in several languages and reminding everyone that it is mandatory for all employees to complete the course.

This course raises our employees’ awareness of human rights and our obligations regarding them. Adapted from a course originally developed by SGS Academy for our customers, the 30-minute module covers topics such as child labor, forced labor, freedom of association and discrimination, working hours, and health and safety. The course also provides an overview of how SGS promotes human rights through our global policy, Human Rights Committee, SGS Code of Conduct for Suppliers, Supplier Self-Assessment Questionnaire and other initiatives. Participants review case studies set in the workplace and must pass a final quiz to receive their certificate.

All employees are responsible for ensuring that respect for human rights remains at the core of our business. Therefore, it is essential that they are all familiar with our policies, participate in relevant training, support programs aimed at promoting human rights and respect the due diligence processes in place to mitigate risks. They must also raise any concerns using appropriate mechanisms, such as the Integrity Helpline. By bringing these elements together in our eLearning course, we can ensure that respect for human rights becomes embedded in everything we do, and that SGS can deliver positive social impacts to millions of people across the world through its operations and supply chains.
