Prior knowledge required
Before starting the course, you should have completed a full five-day auditor or lead auditor course in another management system scheme. You are also expected to understand:
- Principles of environmental sustainable development
- The role of an initial environmental review
- Identification and evaluation of environmental aspects under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions
- Environmental aspects relating to emissions, releases, resource use, energy loss and public nuisance
- The importance of ecosystem protection (e.g. watercourses, SSSIs)
- Environmental legislation and its role in EMS compliance
- Methods for determining significant environmental impacts
- The requirements of ISO/FDIS 14001:2026 (which may be gained through an Introduction course)
