SGS Acquires Qualitest, Strengthening Welding Engineering Services in North America

December 12, 2025

SGS is proud to announce the acquisition of Qualitest, a world leader in welding engineering services. Founded in 2015 and based in Canada, the Qualitest team will be integrated into SGS's Industrial Services division in North America. This acquisition enables SGS to significantly expand its material testing, failure analysis and concrete scanning capabilities while strengthening its position as a comprehensive provider of quality assurance and integrity management solutions for critical infrastructure.

With strategic locations spanning Canada's key industrial regions, Qualitest supports energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and industrial organizations with comprehensive engineering services, including CWB certification support, and inspector training. Qualitest's expertise also encompasses pressure vessel inspection, pipeline integrity, and structural steel fabrication support. With a strong reputation built around technical excellence, the company has successfully executed thousands of projects with an unwavering commitment to safety and quality.

"SGS has a longstanding commitment to supporting critical infrastructure and industrial integrity across North America," said Patrick Beck, Head of Industrial Services at SGS in North America. " This acquisition strengthens our ability to support clients with comprehensive quality assurance solutions and expands our technical capabilities. It highlights our ongoing commitment to helping organizations meet increasingly demanding safety, operational, and regulatory requirements."

This acquisition directly contributes to achieving SGS's corporate strategy: Strategy 27. Strategy 27 is rooted in responding to megatrends driving growth in the TIC industry, including tighter regulations for safety and health vis-à-vis infrastructure development. In the industrial sector, welding engineering and integrity management services play a key role in delivering operational excellence and safety.
