SGS is proud to announce the acquisition of MPR Services, a leading global service provider of amine and glycol reclamation services. With this move, the MPR Services team will be linked to the Sulphur Experts division of SGS in North America. This acquisition enables SGS to offer a more robust set of solutions to its existing customers while also expanding its reach to other organizations in this niche sector.
Founded in 1989, with its head office in Alvin, Texas (United States), MPR Services supports oil and gas organizations with identifying and treating contaminants in their critical systems to treat natural gas and/or refinery gas. In fact, the company specializes in carrying out contamination treatments that recover and reclaim more than 99% of amine and glycol solvent products entrusted to the company by its clients. The ‘reclamation’ of these liquids is synonymous with the ‘recycling’ of solid materials; making products re-usable, reducing waste, and enhancing sustainability. MPR Services has successfully executed more than 500 permanent and mobile projects around the world with the highest regard for safety, recording more than nine years of safe operation without a lost time accident.
“Over the past few years, we have increased our market share in the global sulphur and amine treating industry by diversifying our service portfolio and expanding our geographic footprint, which now includes the Middle East region,” said Patrick Beck, Head of Industrial Services at SGS in North America. “Reclamation of gas treating solvents is a critical service that removes and minimizes hazardous contaminants in amine systems, that take care of eliminating unwanted components in the end products of our customers. This acquisition highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting our clients and new organizations in meeting increasingly demanding environmental and regulatory requirements while enhancing safety, operational reliability and sustainability.”
Bolstering oil and gas reclamation services directly contributes to achieving both of SGS’s corporate strategies: Strategy 27 and IMPACT NOW. Strategy 27 is rooted in responding to megatrends driving growth in the TIC industry; one of these megatrends is ESG and societal expectations. IMPACT NOW is designed to support organizations throughout the entire sustainability lifecycle. In the oil and gas sector, reclamation services play a key role towards achieving SGS’s sustainability ambitions.
