Brazil has initiated two consultations to revise the positive lists for certain food contact materials and articles.
In March 2024, Brazil’s National Health Agency (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária, Anvisa) issued two draft resolutions for food contact materials and articles.
These two pieces of draft legislation are:
- Public Consultation Document No. 1241 of March 20, 2024 ‘Draft Resolution of the Collegiate Board – RDC to amend the positive list of monomers, other starting substances and polymers authorized for the production of plastic packaging and equipment in contact with food under Resolution of the Collegiate Board – RDC No. 56 of November 16, 2021’ (PC No 1241/2024)
- Public Consultation Document No. 1244 of March 20, 2024 ‘Draft Resolution of the Collegiate Board – RDC to amend Resolution of the Collegiate Board – RDC No.326 of December 3, 2019, which establishes the positive list of additives intended for the production of plastic materials and polymeric coatings in contact with food (PC No. 1244/2024)
