European Commission Consults Over Proposal to Regulate PFHxS and PFHxS-related Compounds

The EU has launched a one-month consultation on its proposal to include perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds under the POP Recast Regulation.

On February 9, 2023, the European Commission (EC) announced a one-month consultation on its proposal to regulate perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds under Part A of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants (POP Recast Regulation, consolidated version to December 2022).

Highlights of the draft Regulation to amend Part A of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 are summarized in Table 1.
