Kosher Certification: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities

Join our live webinar on April 21 to learn about Kosher Certification.

The demand for Kosher certified products has been growing very quickly. Over the past several years, sales of Kosher certified products have grown at an average annual rate of 15% with the global Kosher foods market expected to grow by $13.73 BN during 2021-2025, as recently reported. Nearly 80% of all Kosher food sales are sold outside of the "traditional" Jewish market. Close to 1 million products are currently certified Kosher and consumers spend over 200 billion USD on Kosher products annually. For millions of consumers, the Kosher symbol has become synonymous with accountability, quality, and food safety.

Manufacturing of Kosher foods requires specific attention to the raw materials and ingredients used (some are intrinsically Kosher or non-Kosher), equipment and production processes utilized as well as product labeling. The verification of the Kosher status of a product is addressed at the point of manufacture through certification, which aims to ensure that all aspects of the food's production, from the ingredients used to the manner of production, comply with Kosher requirements. The Kosher symbol licensed following successful certification would allow the consumer to identify those products that have undergone all the necessary checks to verify their Kosher status.
