We were proud to participate in the 8th Mining Technology Exhibition, held from 22 to 28 September 2025 in Tanzania’s Geita region. The event, a cornerstone for the country’s mining industry, brought together government officials, private sector leaders, miners and innovators from across East and Central Africa to explore advancements and partnerships driving the future of mining.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Prime Minister Hon. Kassim Majaliwa and concluded by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dotto Mashaka Biteko, drew more than 600 participants from Tanzania and neighboring countries including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since its inception in 2018, the forum has become a vital platform for collaboration, showcasing technologies and strategies that support the sustainable growth of the mining sector.

Showcasing SGS capabilities and partnerships

At this year’s event, we highlighted our comprehensive range of services supporting Tanzania’s mining industry. Visitors to the SGS booth learned more about our operations at the Geita Gold Mine – one of AngloGold Ashanti’s leading sites – where SGS manages both a geochemical laboratory and an Oil Condition Monitoring (OCM) laboratory. These facilities play a crucial role in ensuring analytical accuracy and equipment reliability across Geita mining operations.

Throughout the exhibition, our team engaged with a wide array of stakeholders, including miners, entrepreneurs and government representatives, discussing how SGS solutions contribute to efficiency, safety and sustainability in mining processes.

We were especially honored to welcome Eng. Gabriel Raphael, former Regional Commissioner of Geita and current Chairperson of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA). Eng. Raphael expressed appreciation for SGS’s active involvement and continued support for the development of Tanzania’s mining industry.

Commitment to inclusive and sustainable mining

We were also pleased to host members of the Tanzania Women Miners Association (TAWOMA), who visited our booth to exchange insights on promoting safe, inclusive and environmentally responsible mining practices. Their engagement underscored the growing importance of diversity and gender equity in the mining sector.
