SG 001/26
The US state of Connecticut has approved labeling language for certain products containing intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs).
In 2024, Connecticut signed SB 292 into law (Public Act No. 24-59), which prohibits intentionally added PFAS in specified products unless those products are labeled, starting July 1, 2026 (SafeGuardS 91/24). This was codified as Section 22a-903c of the Connecticut General Statutes.
In late 2025, Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced an order approving the words or symbols for informing the purchaser of PFAS in a product.
Key highlights of the order are summarized in Table 1.
| Substance | Scope¹ | Requirement | Effective date |
|---|---|---|---|

| ¹The order clarifies that when a listed product contains intentionally added PFAS and is a component of another product, the product that contains the component must be labeled ²The original term ‘children’s products’ was revised to ‘juvenile products’ (Public Act No 25-168, Sec. 144) | |||
