SG 019/26
The European Union (EU) corrects several inconsistences and errors in its regulation on the use of bisphenol A (BPA), other hazardous bisphenols and bisphenol derivatives in certain food contact materials (FCMs).
In 2024, the EU issued Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 (the Regulation), setting out requirements for the use of BPA, other bisphenols and bisphenol derivatives with harmonized classification for specific hazardous properties in certain FCMs and articles. Entering into force in January 2025, this legislation provides transitional arrangements for single-use and repeat-use food contact articles (FCAs). A guideline was subsequently released to assist stakeholders in implementing the Regulation. (SafeGuardS 005/25 and 002/26)
On February 3, 2026, the EU issued Regulation (EU) 2026/250 (the ‘correcting regulation’) to correct several inconsistencies and errors in the Regulation.
