Thailand: TISI Standard 2134-2565: Room Air Conditioner Energy Efficiency
The new TISI 2134-2565 standard for room air conditioner energy efficiency will officially replace the current TIS 2134-2553 standard. It will take effect on April 4, 2026.
Scope of the new standard:
- Applies to both modular and non-modular room air conditioners powered by 50 Hz AC.
- Covers units with a total net cooling capacity not exceeding 12,000 watts.
- Includes condensing units and/or fan-coil units that are part of the room air conditioners.
- Does not apply to air conditioners with a total net cooling capacity greater than 12,000 watts.
Thailand: Implementation of New TISI Standard 2461-2565: Hot/Cold Water Dispensers and Cold Water Dispensers – Safety Requirements
The TISI Standard 2461-2565 for hot/cold water dispensers and cold water dispensers (safety requirements) will take effect on October 1, 2025.
Scope of the new standard includes:
- Safety characteristics of hot/cold water dispensers and cold water dispensers, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V for appliances operating on single-phase AC.
- Hygiene requirements for hot/cold water dispensers and cold water dispensers.
- Protection against common hazards that may be caused by these appliances to users and maintenance personnel.
Thailand: Implementation of New TISI Standard 60335 Part 2-13:2564 – Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 2-13: Particular Requirements for Deep Fat Fryers, Frying Pans, and Similar Appliances.
TISI Standard 60335 Part 2-13:2564 – Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 2-13: Particular Requirements for Deep Fat Fryers, Frying Pans, and Similar Appliances will become effective on October 1, 2025. This standard applies to residential-use electrical appliances such as frying pans, curved-bottom pans (woks), and other appliances that use oil for cooking, with a maximum recommended oil capacity of not more than 5 liters. It does not cover:
- Deep fat fryers intended for commercial use
- Commercial multi-purpose cooking pans
- Electrical appliances intended for use in special conditions (e.g., corrosive or explosive atmospheres involving dust, vapor, or gases)
Thailand: Implementation of New TISI Standard 60335 Part 2-23:2564 – Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 2-23: Particular Requirements for Appliances for Skin or Hair Care.
TISI Standard 60335 Part 2-23:2564 – Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 2-23: Particular Requirements for Appliances for Skin or Hair Care will officially replace the current TIS 1985-2549: Appliances for Skin or Hair Care – Safety Requirements. This new standard will become effective on 1 October 2025
Electrical appliances that fall within the scope of this industry standard, such as:
- Curling comb
- Curling iron
- Curling roller with separate heater
- Facial sauna
- Hair dryer
- Hair straightener
- Hand dryer
- Heater for detachable curler
- Water filled foot care appliance without massage function
- Permanent-wave appliance
Thailand: Implementation of New TISI Standard 60335 Part 2-25:2565 – Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 2-25: Particular Requirements for Microwave Ovens, Including Combined Microwave Ovens
TISI Standard 60335 Part 2-25:2565 will officially replace the current TIS 1773-2548: Microwave Ovens – Safety Requirements. This new standard will become effective on 30 December 2025.
Scope: This standard specifies safety requirements for microwave ovens intended for residential and similar use, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V.
Not covered under this standard:
- Commercial microwave ovens (IEC 60335-2-90)
- Industrial microwave heating equipment (IEC 60519-6)
- Electrical appliances for medical purposes (IEC 60601)
- Electrical appliances intended for use in special conditions (e.g., atmospheres subject to corrosion or explosion due to dust, vapor, or gases)
Thailand: Implementation of New TISI Standard 1436 Part 3-2564 (2021) – Low Voltage Switchgear and Control Gear Assemblies – Part 3: Distribution Boards Intended to Be Operated by Ordinary Persons (DBO)
TISI Standard 1436 Part 3-2564 will become effective on 1 October 2025.
Scope: This standard specifies the required characteristics of power distribution boards intended for operation by ordinary persons (DBOs). It includes:
- Usability by the general public
- Ground voltage rating not exceeding 300 V AC
- Output circuit current rating (Inc) not exceeding 125 A
- Main current rating (InA) of the DBO not exceeding 250 A
- Designed for sheathed, stationary electrical power supply systems
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
Thailand: Drone Registration with the Office of the NBTC
On 26 March 2025, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) announced that all drones must be registered via the official NBTC website.
Drone owners are required to register within 30 days from either the date of entry into Thailand or the date of purchase. Failure to register within this period may result in fines and/or penalties. For foreign nationals, a copy of the passport with the entry stamp into Thailand is required. This means that drone registration can only be completed once you are physically in Thailand.

Processing Time: Document verification typically takes 1–5 business days, depending on the volume of applications received. This period may be extended during peak times.
Vietnam: Technical Regulation QCVN 25:2025/BKHCN on Electrical Equipment for Household Installations
On 14 February 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of Vietnam officially issued Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BKHCN, which introduces Technical Regulation QCVN 25:2025/BKHCN concerning electrical equipment for household electrical installations and similar systems.
From 1 April 2025: Organizations and individuals engaged in the manufacture and trade of electrical equipment are encouraged to voluntarily apply QCVN 25:2025/BKHCN.
From 1 April 2027: Mandatory compliance is required for electrical equipment listed in Appendix A and Appendix B of QCVN 25:2025/BKHCN prior to being placed on the market.
Vietnam: MIC Issues Decision No. 178/QD-BTTTT
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) of Vietnam issued Decision No. 178/QD-BTTTT, updating the list of applicable regulations and standards for ICT products. The decision:
Appoints the Telecommunications Quality Measurement Centre under the Department of Telecommunications to conduct testing within the designated scope.
Replaces Decision No. 669/QD-BTTTT (2023).
Effective date: 19 April 2026.
Vietnam: 5925–6425 MHz Frequency Band Opens for WLAN
On 31 March 2025, the newly formed Ministry of Science and Technology (MST)—resulting from the merger of the former MIC and MOST—issued Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BKHCN, amending and supplementing Circular 08/2021/TT-BTTTT.
Key updates:
- Opens the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz) for WLAN/RLAN devices.
- Adjusts the frequency band for wireless charging devices to 315–400 kHz.
This Circular will take effect on 15 May 2025.
Vietnam: MOST Issues New Frequency Regulations for Wi-Fi 6 GHz and Wireless Chargers
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has announced that Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BKHCN will officially take effect on 15 May 2025. This circular serves as an amendment and supplement to Circular No. 08/2021/TT-BTTTT.
Key updates include:
- Official opening of the 6 GHz Wi-Fi band, with an allowable frequency range of 5,925–6,425 MHz
- Adjustment of the permitted frequency range for wireless chargers to 315–400 kHz
Cambodia: TRC Mandates Importer Declaration for Type Approval Applications
The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) has introduced a new requirement for all Type Approval (TA) applications. Moving forward, applicants must submit a declaration identifying the importer of the products for which certification is being requested.
According to TRC, this measure enhances transparency and ensures regulatory compliance, particularly when the applying company is not the direct importer of the devices. If the applicant or its client fails to declare the importer, the TA certificate will not be issued.
Submission Requirement: Importer details must be sent via email to info@trc.gov.kh.
This regulation is aimed at streamlining the certification process and increasing accountability within Cambodia’s telecommunications sector. Companies seeking TA certification should ensure compliance to avoid delays.
Indonesia: Komdigi Issues Decree No. 45 of 2025 on GSM/IMT-2000 Technical Standards
On 18 February 2025, Indonesia’s Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital (Komdigi) issued Decree No. 45 of 2025, concerning Technical Standards for Telecommunication Equipment and Cellular Mobile Devices based on GSM and IMT-2000 technologies.
Key updates include:
- Addition of the 850 MHz frequency band for GSM devices.
- Test reports referencing PERDIRJEN SDPPI No. 5 remain valid, provided they do not conflict with the new provisions.
Effective date: This decree will take effect six months from the date of issuance, on 18 August 2025.
China: MIIT Announces Revocation of Regulations Related to 40–50 GHz Usage
On 27 March 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China released the “Notice of Revocation for Two Regulatory Documents Related to the Usage of 40–50 GHz.”
Key change: As of 1 January 2026, MIIT will no longer accept or approve SRRC applications for:
- Point-to-point fixed wireless access systems
- Mobile broadband wireless access systems operating in the 40–50 GHz frequency range
This revocation reflects a shift in frequency usage policy and may impact future product development and certification plans in this spectrum.
Malaysia: MTSFB Opens Public Solicitation on Draft Technical Codes
The Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) is currently conducting a public consultation on the following draft Technical Codes (TCs):
- TSFB2409R3: Short Range Devices – Technical Specifications (Third Revision)
- MTSFB2411R0: Communications Equipment – Baseline Requirements
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to review and submit feedback on the proposed drafts. All comments must be submitted to MTSFB by 7 May 2025 to be considered in the official revision process.

Mexico: IFT Opens Public Consultation to Modify IFT Seal Use Effective Date
On 11 April 2025, the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) of Mexico opened a public consultation to modify the effective date and applicability of the Guidelines for IFT Seal Use. The proposed change would extend the effective date from 1 July 2025 to 1 July 2027.
The consultation will be open for comments until 2 May 2025
Mexico: IFT To Remain Regulator Until New Laws are Presented
On 8 January 2025, the Comisión Nacional de Mejora Regulatoria (CONAMER) published a draft internal regulation for the Agencia de Transformación Digital y Telecomunicaciones (ATDT). This draft includes details on the Agency’s organizational structure, powers of its Head, and the responsibilities of various units within the Agency, such as its projects and operations departments.
Despite the upcoming transition, the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) will continue to serve as the industry regulator until the legislature presents a secondary law to govern the new ATDT entity.
Mexico: IFT Issues Errata for IFT-017-2023
On 2 April 2025, Mexico issued an Errata for IFT-017-2023 to correct the Video Bandwidth (VBW) entry in Section 5.7.2.
Original text: “b) Set the following conditions in the spectrum analyzer... ii. Video Bandwidth (VBW) = 3 x RBW”
Updated text: “b) Set the following conditions in the spectrum analyzer... ii. Video Bandwidth (VBW) ≥ 3 x RBW”
The Caribbean: ECTEL Requests Proposals for Review of Spectrum Management Framework and Fees
The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) opened a Request for Proposals (RFP) on 7 March 2025, seeking proposals for the Review of the Spectrum Management Framework and Fees for ECTEL Contracting States.
The RFP will remain open for proposals until 15 April 2025.
Oceania
Australia: Australia Standards Releases New Standard AS/NZS 1418.10:2025
The new standard AS/NZS 1418.10:2025 was published on 14 February 2025. Currently, the WorkSafe platform continues to accept design registrations for products tested against the previous version, AS/NZS 1418.10:2011 Amd 1:2017.
However, compliance with AS/NZS 1418.10:2025 will become mandatory starting 14 August 2025.
Note: Some previously registered plant or equipment will not require re-registration as a result of this standard update, depending on specific conditions set by regulatory authorities.
