To specify the procedure for type approval, Regulation (EU) 2019/2144, one of the supplementary regulations to Regulation (EU) No. 2018/858, has been introduced. This regulation is the General Safety Regulation for type approval and is designed to ensure that vehicles meet high standards in terms of safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency.
For the time being, Regulation (EU) No. 2018/858 and Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 specify that vehicles, components or independent technical units in type approval shall meet a range of regulations relating to advanced driver assistance systems.
