We are pleased to announce that five inspectors from SGS Pakistan have recently obtained API 570 (Piping Inspection Code: In-service Inspection, Rating, Repair, and Alteration of Piping Systems) and API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspection Code: In-service Inspection, Rating, Repair, and Alteration) certification.
These codes are based on the recommended practices for oil refineries and other oil & gas industry sites.
The newly certified SGS Pakistan’s inspectors are:
- Alidad Khan – API 570
- Tarique Ali Memon – API 510
- Muhammad Tanweer – API 510
- Bakhtiar Ahmed – API 510
- Jam Ali Nawaz - API 510

About API personnel certification
API stands for the American Petroleum Institute. It has been recognized as the unbiased assessment centre for technical and inspection staff working in petroleum and petrochemical industries worldwide. The API certification proves personnel’s competence in content areas that are relevant to their practices.
Certification against API 570 (Piping Inspector) demonstrates the certified inspector’s knowledge related to maintenance, inspection, alteration and repair of in-service metallic piping systems.
Certification against API 510 (Pressure Vessel) demonstrates the certified inspector’s knowledge related to maintenance, inspection, repair, and alteration of pressure vessels. \
Both exams last for 7.5 hours and contain 170 questions each.
