International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) is the leading sustainability certification system for renewable fuels.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the aviation industry fully recognize the urgent need to reduce GHG emissions. In response, ICAO member states have committed to ambitious targets aimed at curbing emissions from air transportation. Among these is a collective long-term global aspirational goal (LTAG) to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) introduced the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) as the ICAO’s tool to address the increase in GHG emissions from aviation. This globally recognized certification system ensures the sustainability and traceability of the industry’s feedstocks and fuels.
Operators can fulfill ISCC CORSIA offsetting requirements by utilizing sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) as a viable solution. CORSIA has been recognized by the ICAO for demonstrating compliance with the sustainability, traceability criteria and life cycle assessment (LCA) calculation methodology for SAF (CORSIA Eligible Fuels) certification.
ISCC CORSIA PLUS only applies to agricultural and forestry feedstocks. It contains additional requirements for farms and plantations that cover environmental, social and economic sustainability aspects.

As the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, with decades of experience in sustainability and the aviation industry, we can help you along the path to certification with an ISCC CORSIA or CORSIA PLUS audit.

ISCC CORSIA is a sustainability certification recognized by the ICAO for CORSIA-eligible fuels. Key stakeholders include operators, while the ISCC Credit Transfer System can be used by SAF suppliers, aircraft operators, logistics providers and end customers.
The basis of every ISCC CORSIA certification is the use of alternative feedstocks. These can be waste and residues or sustainably grown agricultural raw materials that qualify for CORSIA certification. The ICAO determines the eligibility of these materials.
