Amazon’s Skin Lightening Products Program Policy defines how products must be verified to ensure safety and quality before they can be sold on the platform. The process involves several key steps:
- Product testing and review: you partner with us to complete the necessary testing for your specific product type. This confirms that your product meets Amazon’s safety and quality standards
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification: you provide GMP certificates from your manufacturer to verify production in facilities that follow recognized quality manufacturing standards
- Facility and product registration: you must submit facility and product registration documents (U.S. FDA forms 5066 and 5067 or equivalent) to confirm that both your manufacturing site and product are properly registered
- Label verification and product testing: we review your label images and testing results to ensure they comply with Amazon’s requirements for skin lightening products
- Heavy metals testing: we verify that heavy metal levels fall within Amazon’s acceptable limits:
- Mercury: < 1 ppm
- Lead: < 10 ppm
- Arsenic: < 3 ppm
- Cadmium: < 3 ppm
- Microbiological testing
We assess microbial limits according to USP <60> and <61> (≤1000 cfu/mL(g)) and confirm the absence of specified organisms under USP <62>. - Adulterant testing
We screen for prohibited ingredients, confirming they are not detected (ND), including:
Hydroquinone, Betamethasone (and derivatives), Clobetasol propionate, Clotrimazole, Halobetasol propionate, Fluocinonide, Fluocinolone, and Fluocinolone acetonide.
Once all testing and documentation are complete, we report a ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ status to you and to Amazon. Products that pass are authorized for sale on the platform.
