UK Consults on 15 Substances as SVHCs

The United Kingdom (UK) is planning to include 15 chemicals in its Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) for authorization.

On March 9, 2026, the UK’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) launched a six-week consultation on the addition of 15 SVHCs to the UK REACH Candidate List in its registry of SVHC intentions (RoI). This follows the release of the new strategic approach statement by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

Highlights of the proposed 15 SVHCs are summarized in Table 1.
