TUTOR'S PROFILE
Rosalie Tablando
Global ESD Business Head
Rosalie has 11 years solid work experience as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control engineer specializing ESD control measures and implementation in compliance with ANSI/ ESD S20.20 and IEC61340-5-1 standard from a well-known international semiconductor manufacturing company.
DESCRIPTION
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) and static electricity can cause numerous problems for organizations across several industries, particularly the electronics industry.
It can have adverse effects on product quality and reliability, manufacturing costs and production. In ordinary life, it can be a minor annoyance but unprotected electronic components from diodes to complex hybrids can be easily damaged and become defective due to electrostatic discharge.
The ANSI/ESD S20.20 for the Development of an Electrostatic Discharge Control Program for - Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts, Assemblies and Equipment (Excluding Electrically Initiated Explosive Devices) standard was then developed to help organizations.
This standard helps organizations design, develop, implement and maintain an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Control Program to protect ESD-sensitive electrical or electronic parts, assemblies and equipment from being damaged by Human Body Model (HBM) discharges greater than or equal to 100 volts.
This course is designed for you to have a good understanding of the background, elements and requirements of the standard.
Topics:
ESD Basics
- What is ESD?
- How Charge is Generated?
- Effects of ESD on Electronic Device.
- Basic ESD Control Principles.
Introduction to ANSI/ESD s2020:2014
- Scope
- ESD Control Program
- ESD Control Program Administrative Requirements
- ESD Control Program Technical Requirements
SGS Philippines is the global competence center for the ESD s20.20 standard and shares expertise with the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA).
OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, you are expected to:
- Understand the nature of ESD and how it is generated.
- Identify the types of ESD device damage.
- Understand the basics of ESD control.
- Describe the requirements of ESD s2020:2014.
AUDIENCE
This course is relevant to individuals and teams who are interested in gaining a solid foundation of the standard, particularly, production managers, production supervisors and production teams, project managers and project teams, corporate and production planners, and QA/QC managers and staff
Note: SGS shall provide only generic information and advice which are freely available in public domain.
SGS will not provide company specific advice towards the development and implementation of the management systems for eventual certification, which contravenes the requirements of the IAF Guidance (i.e. provision of consultancy services).
