Following the successful Women's Wellbeing Session held at SGS Pakistan in September 2023, SGS have taken another significant step in our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
On 20 October 2023 we collaborated with Rotary Club Karachi and Memon Medical Institute Hospital to organize a special awareness session at Liberty Mills, Karachi.
Liberty Mills Limited: Situated in the industrial heart of Karachi, Pakistan, Liberty Mills Limited has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1964. Today, it stands as one of the largest textile processing and production units in Karachi. Facility covers everything from sewing, spinning, and weaving to dyeing, white fabric, and brushing processes. With a dedicated workforce of 10,000 in Pakistan, Liberty Mills specializes in the production of apparel, homecare textiles, and healthcare textiles.
SGS's Participation: Iqra Akbar, Deputy Manager I&E, took the lead in conducting the session at Liberty Mills. She also delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of work-life balance, a topic that resonated deeply with the attendees. Additionally, Ms. Shumaila Omer from Rotary Club Karachi who is leading this campaign and Dr. Saima from MMIH delivered detailed presentations on breast cancer, emphasizing the critical role of early detection and proper care in saving lives.
Empowering Women: Liberty Mills arranged two sessions for its female workforce, which included both the factory workers and office staff, totaling around 110 women. The sessions went beyond awareness discussions, incorporating physical screenings as part of the program. As a leader in the industry, SGS is fully committed to promoting wellbeing and raising awareness about breast cancer.
