How Optimized SNP Genotyping Arrays are Changing the Plant Breeding and Genetics Sector

Join our live webinar on December 14 to learn about SNP genotyping arrays for plant breeding.

Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping is now routinely being used for plant breeding in many field crops and vegetables. In particular, the large scale parallel genotyping of many markers using genotyping arrays is applied to the characterization of plant varieties, breeding progenies and wild germplasm.

Historically, initial genotyping with arrays has been performed with large genotyping arrays that have been expensive and difficult to use due to varying marker quality. Nowadays, the trend is towards optimized genotyping arrays that are tailored for high throughput and cost efficiency. They also contain highly polymorphic and haplotype-specific markers, particularly within genomic selection (GS) schemes.

Objective

This webinar introduces the genotyping activities of SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS GmbH TraitGenetics Section (SGS IF TG), using public and proprietary arrays. Our high-density, intermediate-density and low-density genotyping arrays are optimized to reliably capture haplotypic diversity in a range of different germplasm – and generate high quality genotypic data.

Learn more about the availability of our genotyping arrays for research and plant breeding at highly competitive prices from SGS IF TG in Germany, and soon from SGS in North America.
