Accessing markets in Uganda

Businesses involved in trade with Uganda must understand the country’s pre-export verification procedures or risk delays, noncompliance and penalties.

The Uganda pre-export verification of conformity (PVoC) program is designed to protect consumers from substandard products that may endanger human health and the environment. It ensures products entering the country conform to compulsory standards, technical regulations and/or approved equivalents. Once a product is deemed compliant, it is issued with a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) that enables Customs clearance for the certified consignment.

SGS has been awarded its fourth consecutive contract to provide PVoC services by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS); coming into force on March 1, 2023. Our product conformity assessment (PCA) service helps facilitate trade in compliant products.

Our complimentary webinar will help exporters, importers and forwarders understand the complexities and requirements of the Uganda PVoC program, including applicable procedures and technical regulations.

Agenda

  • Continuity of SGS’s Uganda PVoC program
  • Changes to procedure
  • Responsibilities of exporters, importers and inspection companies
  • Penalties for consignments without a CoC
  • How to submit a CoC request through the Uganda Electronic Single Window
