SGS Celebrates Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October 10, 2022

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a time for highlighting cybersecurity and sharing best practices for reducing cybersecurity incidents.

This October, SGS celebrates Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Introduced in 2004, by the then US President and later adopted by the EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and European Commission, Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a time for discussing cybersecurity and sharing best practices for reducing cybersecurity incidents. This year’s themes include Phishing, Ransomware and See Yourself in Cyber, which shows people at the heart of cybersecurity.

Why is cybersecurity so important?

Connected technologies have transformed our lives. They enable us to share knowledge and work, conduct business and play together in ways that were never before possible, as well as allow us to be more efficient and more sustainable.

As technologies that keep us connected, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), become more prevalent in our daily lives, cybersecurity threats have kept pace, becoming more common and more sophisticated. Cyberattacks happen almost every day, affecting not only targeted businesses, but also their partners, suppliers and customers.

Modifying our behaviors to reduce risks and staying up to date with cybersecurity protocols is essential for minimizing cyber threats and the extensive damage they can cause.

How can SGS help?

We can help you to keep pace with evolving cybersecurity threats and implement protective measures. Among our range of cybersecurity services is certification to ISO/IEC 27001, the world’s leading information security, cybersecurity and privacy standard. The latest version, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, is due to be published this month. We can help you understand the changes and learn how to remain compliant and protect your data.

Don’t miss our upcoming SGS Live event with three of our experts discussing: Cybersecurity – A Shifting Sandstorm.

You can download our new white paper: Escalating threats, innovative technology and greater connectivity – the importance of ISO/IEC 27001 and its evolution.
