A2LA Accreditation for Mexican Automotive Laboratory

September 02, 2026

We are proud to announce that our automotive laboratory in Mexico has obtained ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This achievement demonstrates the laboratory's technical capability to conduct testing in accordance with over 260 standards and test methods used by major automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Recognizing technical competence

The accreditation recognizes the laboratory's technical competence in performing a wide range of mechanical, physical, chemical, environmental and vehicle interior air quality tests on automotive components, materials and products, in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017. It also validates the laboratory's operation of a quality management system aligned with internationally recognized quality standards.

Carla Alvarez, Manager, Connectivity & Products, Mexico, SGS said: "This accreditation marks an important milestone for our automotive laboratory in Mexico and reflects our commitment to delivering locally accessible, internationally recognized testing services to the automotive industry. By expanding our accredited capabilities, we can help manufacturers and suppliers accelerate product validation, demonstrate compliance with global OEM requirements and bring products to market with confidence."

Supporting Mexico's automotive sector

This milestone represents a strategic step for our services in Mexico, strengthening our service portfolio for the domestic automotive sector. It enables us to provide manufacturers, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers and the broader automotive supply chain with local access to accredited testing that meets the requirements of leading OEMs across North America, Europe and Asia.

Accredited capabilities include tests for abrasion, adhesion, accelerated aging, chemical resistance, flammability, volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, aldehyde measurement, visual assessment, mechanical strength, colorimetry, odor, textile performance and environmental conditions, among many other methodologies used to validate automotive materials and components.

Building long-term value for the industry

The accreditation positions us as a strategic partner for Mexican automotive manufacturers seeking to demonstrate compliance with increasingly stringent technical specifications and standards related to quality, safety, performance and sustainability.

With this accreditation, we have reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the growth of one of Mexico's most important industries through testing, inspection and certification solutions that help enhance competitiveness and confidence across the entire automotive value chain. This milestone strengthens our ability to support the evolving needs of Mexico's automotive industry and deliver trusted testing services that help manufacturers succeed in global markets.
