Registered in 2003, Smart has a wide footprint in Africa with operations in 12 countries. Smart was founded to create meaningful human centric innovations for all with a mission to simplify access to healthcare and empower informed decision making.
Two years ago, the company took a strategic decision to streamline operations and processes to achieve efficiency, effectiveness and standardize service levels based upon the international best practices integrated to ISO 9001.
Challenges and lessons learnt
Since May 2023, Smart Applications International Ltd has been diligently working towards implementing the ISO 9001:2015 standard into their management system.
During the implementation phase, the company encountered some challenges, largely stemming from its internal operating context. The complexity of its processes and the scale of the organization prolonged the documentation phase. This required careful coordination to keep the project on track.
The key lesson learnt by Smart’s team has been the importance of aligning departmental practices and documented procedures in the framework of the management system.
Achieving a new milestone with ISO certification
After successfully passing the audit conducted by SGS in February 2025, Smart was awarded the certification in March 2025. This achievement reflects their commitment to quality, customer focus and continuous improvement within their organization.
